MUSCAT: Content creators who negatively exploit children under the age of 15 or domestic workers in media content may face imprisonment for three years, a fine of RO5,000, or either penalty, Oman’s Public Prosecution has warned.
The same penalties apply to those who publish content promoting violence or excessive horror to children.
The Public Prosecution urged content creators to consider who could be harmed by the material they produce and publish online.
The penalties are stipulated under Article 36(7) of the Law on Combating Cybercrimes, issued under Royal Decree No. 61/2026.
